Snapchat Memories on a Computer
Last updated October 2026 · Free · Works in any browser
Short answer: you can't browse Memories on Snapchat Web — Snap's own support documentation says viewing your saved Memories requires the Snapchat app on iOS or Android. But you can get every Memory off your phone and onto your computer as real photo and video files, where you can view, sort, and back them up in any app you like. Here's what works, what doesn't, and the free way to do it properly.
Can you view Memories on Snapchat Web?
No. Snapchat for Web (web.snapchat.com) is built for chatting: text conversations, voice and video calls, Lenses on calls, and sending Snaps. According to Snap's support documentation, opening and viewing the photo and video Snaps you saved to your Memories is one of the features that requires the mobile app — along with managing Stories and changing account settings. So if you came to a computer hoping to scroll your Memories timeline in the browser, Snapchat itself won't do it.
The reliable way: export your Memories, then view them on the computer
Since Snapchat won't show Memories on the web, the practical move is to bring the Memories to the computer as files you own. The export route is free and works for everything you've ever saved:
- Request your archive. On your phone or any browser, sign in at accounts.snapchat.com, open My Data, and submit a request with the Memories export enabled. Snapchat emails you a download link when the ZIP is ready. The detailed walkthrough is in how to export Snapchat Memories.
- Download the ZIP on your computer. It contains your Memories media
plus
memories_history.json, the index that maps each file to its capture date. A full map of what's inside is in your Snapchat "My Data" export explained. - Convert it into a real photo library. The raw files have machine-generated names and no embedded dates. Snapkeep processes the archive locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded — and turns it into dated, year-sorted photos and videos with the capture dates written into the files themselves.
Once converted, your Memories live on the computer like any other photos: scroll them in Finder or File Explorer, open them in Photos or Google Photos, drop them into a cloud backup. No app, no login, no Snapchat required.
Why not just mirror your phone screen?
Screen mirroring (AirPlay, QuickTime, scrcpy, or your phone's desktop-link feature) can put the Snapchat app on a computer display, and for peeking at a Memory it's fine. As a way of actually having Memories on a computer it fails: nothing is saved on the computer, everything still lives inside Snapchat's storage on your phone, and you're one lost phone away from losing the lot. Mirroring is a window; the export is a vault copy.
What about the 5GB storage cap?
Snapchat now caps free Memories storage at 5GB, and over-cap content on free accounts can be deleted after the grace period that ended in late September 2026. Exporting is free regardless of whether you pay for storage — so the computer copy costs nothing and sidesteps the policy entirely. The full picture is in is Snapchat deleting Memories?
